Frequently Asked Questions

How is the pension rate calculated in Vietnam?

The pension rate starts at 45% for the first 15 years of BHXH contributions. For each additional year beyond 15, the rate increases by 2%, up to a maximum of 75%. For example, 20 years = 45% + (20-15)×2% = 55%; 30 years = 45% + (30-15)×2% = 75% (capped).

What is the minimum retirement age in Vietnam?

Under the 2019 Labour Code, the retirement age is being gradually increased. By 2028, men retire at 62 and women at 60. Early retirement is possible with a reduced pension rate (2% reduction per year early).

What salary is used to calculate the pension?

For employees in the state sector, the pension is based on the average salary of the last few years before retirement. For private sector employees, it is the average of all years of BHXH contribution. This calculator uses the average salary you enter as the base.
