Frequently Asked Questions

How much water should I drink per day?

A common guideline is 35 ml per kg of body weight. For a 70 kg adult in a temperate climate with moderate activity, that is about 2.8–3.0 litres per day. Hot climates and intense exercise increase the requirement significantly.

Does coffee or tea count toward daily water intake?

Yes, caffeinated drinks contribute to hydration, though they have a mild diuretic effect. Water, herbal teas, and water-rich foods (fruits, vegetables) all count. Alcohol does not count — it increases fluid loss.

Why do people in Vietnam need more water?

Vietnam's tropical climate means higher temperatures and humidity year-round, especially in the south. Sweating increases significantly, so the body needs more water to maintain core temperature and replace lost fluids. The calculator adds 500 ml for hot/humid climates.
